EDI Data

The Bank is committed to promoting equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) across Scotland, including through its investments. To do this, we collect information related to a company’s demographic make-up, as well as its wider policies and practices related to equality. Provision of EDI data is voluntary and provision of data is not a factor in commercial decision-making.

Some of the data we request includes ‘Special Category Data’, which should only be provided to us with explicit consent of the data subject or where the data subject has made the information public.

This data will be stored securely for a maximum of 36 months. It will be used to review and develop our investment process, by identifying and implementing changes that improve access to finance. Due to the Bank being publicly owned, reporting of the data may be both internal and external; however, all reporting will be done on an aggregated, anonymised basis and won’t contain any personally identifiable information.

Please select ‘Yes’ to confirm you agree that the Bank will process this data in line with the stated purposes, and according to our privacy policy.

If you have any questions or subsequently change your mind about providing this data to us, you can contact our Data Protection Officer via this email address: dataprotection@thebank.scot.

Products & Services

Are the company’s products and/or services specifically designed to improve outcomes for individuals or groups with any of the following characteristics?

*Definitions: Gender – The Bank uses the terminology provided by the Investing in Women Code:

  • Female - An individual self-identifying as a woman, not exclusively cisgender* individuals.
  • Male - An individual self-identifying as a man, not exclusively cisgender individuals.
  • Non-binary - An individual self-identifying as having a gender that falls outside the categories of male or female, e.g., two (or more) genders, non-gendered, gender fluid, gender non-conforming or otherwise non male or female.

* Cisgender (sometimes cissexual or shortened to cis) describes a person whose gender identity corresponds to their sex assigned at birth.

Ethnic Minority – The Bank uses the 2022 Scottish Census data to define an ethnic minority as all individuals who do not identify as White (Scottish) or White (British). See: Scotland’s Census 2022 - Ethnic group, national identity, language and religion | Scotland's Census

Disability – The Bank uses the 2010 Equalities Act definition of disability. You are disabled under the Equality Act 2010 if you have a physical or mental impairment that has a ‘substantial’ and ‘long-term’ negative effect on your ability to do normal daily activities.

Socio-economic disadvantage - Being 'socio-economically disadvantaged' means living in less favourable social and economic circumstances than others in the same society, which can result in inequalities of outcomes.
